Summer brings Sunshine and in turn the return of Al Fresco Dining! Al Fresco Dining is the art of dining outdoors, a pivotal part of the Summer Season here at Castleknock Hotel. We adore dining in the sunshine in each of our 3 outdoor dining spaces, here’s a few reasons why…
Fresh air naturally reduces stress levels. By dining outdoors, you can enjoy your experience that little bit more with your reduced stress and in turn, digest your food with more success. When you’re in a more relaxed state, your body can release the correct levels of the HCL enzyme into your stomach, which helps to break down food and kill harmful pathogens.
Other reasons for reductions to stress levels include the sunshine (which increases your exposure to Vitamin D) , enhanced comfort (in the form of more comfortable furniture than what is found in the more informal setting within a restaurant) and the change of scenery (we are particularly accustomed to indoor dining in Ireland throughout the Winter and Spring).
Dining Al Fresco allows you to further enjoy Natural Beauty and in turn Boost your mood. Surrounding the grounds of Castleknock Hotel, we are blessed with an abundance of natural beauty. We’re particularly lucky when it comes to the aesthetics of Earth & Vine Patio, where you can enjoy the natural beauty (particularly the sunset) of our neighbouring Castleknock Golf Club and if you’re lucky some of the spectacular wildlife around it including Geese, Foxes and Rabbits.
Additionally, outdoor dining guarantees an elevated experience. When dining outdoors, your senses are enhanced, particularly your taste and smell. A mix of this and the fact the exposure of your food and drink to factors such as air temperature and moisture can certainly intensify the smell, taste and flavours of your meal.
Another key benefit to dining al fresco is the accessibility to those who may for a number of reasons maybe unable to eat indoors. The Terrace located at the front of the hotel is a key component here as it is a space that can be particularly essential to the likes of smokers and dog walkers.
In our opinion the most important aspect of al fresco dining (aside from the meal itself) is the ambiance in which can be portrayed in an outdoor setting. Our 3 outdoor dining spaces offer rather different ambiances than one another. The Terrace can be described as more of a social setting, located at the front of the hotel this area is a lovely space to enjoy coffee and cakes with friends as the hustle and bustle of hotel life can continue through the main entrance. 22 Bar & Restaurant Patio creates a vibrant atmosphere with the décor, music and atmosphere to suit the overall casual dining experience. Earth & Vine Patio however creates a totally different atmosphere than both aforementioned settings, a beautifully natural setting with a relaxed yet intricate atmosphere to immerse yourself in the fine dining experience. In terms of accessibility, Earth & Vine Patio can certainly play a pivotal role for those who maybe hard of hearing to enjoy a more relaxed dining experience.
