The kids have 2 weeks off, it’s time for some exciting Family Adventures! This Easter mid-term children will receive an Easter Egg on arrival at Castleknock Hotel. While the hotel will have some exciting activities taking place over the Easter weekend, we highly recommend visiting some of the amazing nearby attractions!
Dublin Zoo
Ireland’s most popular family attraction, Dublin Zoo is the perfect destination for an amazing family day out! Dublin Zoo is just a short 15 minute drive away from the hotel. Check out all the beautiful animals from across the globe, sparking your children’s imaginations and providing a wonderful learning experience about endangered animals. With over 400 animals we can guarantee you’ll never run out of things to see and do at the Zoo. Add an exciting trip to Dublin Zoo by adding a Day Pass to your family stay at checkout! The Family Day Pass includes entry for 2 Adults and 2 Children. We are so fortunate to have Dublin Zoo on our doorstep and Castleknock Hotel is proud to support Dublin Zoo through the adoption of the Giraffe herd on an annual basis. Children receive our mascot Phoenix the Giraffe with their welcome packs to the hotel, we encourage you to bring them on all your family adventures but particularly to the zoo!
Phoenix Park
The Phoenix Park is home to so many iconic places to go and things to see. Go check out Áras an Uachtaráin, home and workplace to the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins. Perhaps you might catch a glimpse of his beautiful best friend, his Bernese Mountain Dog called Bród. Why not have a cuppa in The Victorian Tea Rooms or check out the beautiful Farmleigh House and the intriguing Magazine Fort? There is plenty for the whole family to enjoy! Keep an eye out for the park’s most famous residents, The Fallow Deer or go and have fun in the playground. Once again just a short 10–15-minute drive from the hotel.
Emerald Park (Previously known as Tayto Park)
Emerald Park Theme Park & Zoo offers over 100 attractions. With over 100 attractions to experience and enjoy, there is something for everyone; young, old and in between. For the thrill-seekers, The Cú Chulainn, Ireland's first rollercoaster and Europe's first wooden rollercoaster with an inversion are sure to get your adrenaline flowing. But that's not all, challenge yourself high in the sky on the Extreme Climbing Walls or Sky Walk, let the kids explore the Playground. Take the Steam Train Express or Mini Ferris Wheel. And for those who don't need an increased heart rate to have a good time, enjoy a laid-back stroll through the zoo, where you can interact with the exceptional animal collection, from the mischievous meerkats to the largest of the big cats, the Amur tiger. Blanchardstown Shopping Centre
Blanchardstown Shopping Centre is ideal for easy going fun for all the family. Particularly ideal if the weather isn’t kind with Odeon Cinema, Leisureplex and an abundance of restaurants to choose from! Watch all the latest funny family films with some delicious snacks at Odeon or change it up with some amusements, bowling and play centre at Leisureplex!
National Aquatic Centre
Another alternative for a rainy day is the National Aquatic Centre! Home of AquaZone Waterpark, an exciting indoor waterpark for all the family to enjoy. With plenty of slides, a lazy river and a wave pool this makes for a great day out for school kids on their mid-term break!
Fort Lucan
Fort Lucan Adventureland has been Dublin’s biggest Adventure playground since 1993! Generations of children have come to Fort Lucan to seek adventure and excitement. Set within a huge wooden Viking Fort, the centre provides hours of outdoor fun for children aged between 2 and 12 years.
